Dealing with a medical emergency

Medical emergency

As soon as you discover a person with injuries or a medical condition give all assistance possible and follow this procedure:

  1. contact ‘000’ and request an ambulance
  1. give control as much information about the condition of the person as possible including:
  1. whether the person is conscious
  1. whether they are breathing normally
  1. whether they have visible injuries
  1. the exact location
  1. the nature and cause of the injuries.
  1. Once you have called for assistance give whatever first aid you can to the injured and await the arrival of the ambulance.  
  2. Never leave injured people unattended.
